IOWA CITY - A Coralville man faces numerous charges after a drunken incident inside a convenience store.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, Anthony W. Yarbrough, 41, of Coralville, was inside the Kum & Go convenience store, 323 E. Burlington St. Police said Yarbrough threw a display stand of lighters at the store clerk and attempted to walk away from the store.
Yarbrough ignored an officer's orders to stop and refused another officer's orders to put his hands behind his back, police said. Yarbrough continued to resist arrest, requiring the use of a Taser to get him under control, police said.
Police said Yarbrough smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. He refused a post-arrest breath test. Yarbrough was placed under arrest and police found Lisdexamfetamine - an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder drug - and Hydrocodone - a narcotic painkiller - pills in his possession.
Yarbrough faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor; and one count each of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and interference with official acts, all simple misdemeanors.
