Cedar Rapids police to host fundraiser at Chipotle next week

Nov. 7, 2016 1:29 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids police charity will be taking part in a fundraiser next week.
Cedar Rapids police, as well as members of the Volunteer Corps and Police Explorers, will be at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 2360 Edgewood Road SW, on Nov. 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity.
The Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity was created by the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Association. In the past, the association has hosted Shop with A Cop events and provided funding for the Child Protection Center, Rabinre Treatment Center, Cedar Rapids Firefighters Association Fire Bowl and Special Olympics of Iowa.
The police charity is now raising funds for a Shop with a Cop event on Dec. 8. The program will allow about 100 children to shop for winter coats, boots, hats, gloves and a toy for the holidays. Police will be on hand to help the children pick out coats and toys.
In addition to the Chipotle fundraiser, donations can also be made at www.crpolicecharity.com.
