NORTH LIBERTY - A North Liberty man is accused of receiving illegal drugs in the mail.
According to a North Liberty police criminal complaint, a U.S. Postal Inspector at the North Liberty Post Office intercepted a package that smelled strongly of marijuana. The package was addressed to 21-year-old Aaron S. Parker.
Police said Parker had previously called the post office to check on the status of his package and left a phone number. On Monday, the post office called Parker to let him know his package was ready for pickup.
Parker arrived at the post office, picked up the package and was met by police in the parking lot. Police said Parker immediately confessed that the package contained THC wax. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana.
Police said Parker voluntarily opened the package, which contained 28 bags of THC wax weighing approximately one gram each.
Parker was arrested and faces one count of controlled substance violation, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
