CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man and woman drove a man to cash his tax refund and then robbed him of nearly $1,000, authorities said.
Criminal complaints provide additional detail about a Thursday afternoon robbery reported by the Linn County Sheriff's Office, including the multitude of charges filed against 23-year-old Tanor Jimmison and 24-year-old Kashawna Harris.
According to the complaints, Jimmison and Harris drove the victim to EZ Money Check Cashing on Thursday so that he could cash a tax refund check. The pair then drove the victim to the area of Squad Ridge Road and Haggis Road east of Cedar Rapids in rural Linn County. There, authorities said, Jimmison displayed a machete and Harris pulled a knife on the victim and robbed him of approximately $1,000.
Deputies were called to the robbery after the duo fled and were given information on the two suspects, who were driving a silver Ford Taurus with Missouri plates. The information was broadcast to area law enforcement.
A short time later, Cedar Rapids police pulled over Harris and Jimmison near Highway 100 and just west of Menard Lane. Police said they found both cash and weapons during the stop. Both Harris and Jimmison had meth on them, as well, authorities said.
When Harris - who gave a fake name to police - was booked at the jail, they also found marijuana on her, according to the complaints.
Both Jimmison and Harris face charges of second-degree robbery and possession of meth. Harris faces an enhanced penalty on the meth charge for a prior conviction of meth possession in March 2015. She also faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false information to law enforcement.
