CEDAR RAPIDS - A single-vehicle crash knocked out power to parts of Cedar Rapids early Thursday morning.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office, Bertram Fire Department, Area Ambulance and Alliant Energy responded to a crash at Mount Vernon and Dows roads around 12:43 a.m. Thursday. There, they learned the 17-year-old female driver had lost control of her vehicle and hit a fire hydrant and the guy-wires to a power line. The driver's vehicle rolled over.
Authorities said the crash knocked out power to parts of south east Cedar Rapids for several hours. The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was given two traffic citations.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
