CORALVILLE - A Coralville man who pressed charges against a prostitute who racked up charges on his credit card now faces a prostitution charge of his own.
According to a Coralville police criminal complaint, 52-year-old Douglas J. Geisen has been arrested on one count of prostitution. Police said on May 8, Geisen contacted an escort - 32-year-old Crystal E. Dove El - through an online ad. Dove El met Geisen at his home and he agreed to pay her for sex, police said.
Police said the two went to US Bank in Coralville and Geisen gave Dove El his debit card so she could withdraw $100 for her services. However, police said she withdrew an additional $400 without telling Geisen.
Dove El allegedly kept the Geisen's credit card and made seven withdrawals from the his account that night and the following day, purchasing lottery tickets in North Liberty and Cedar Rapids.
Following the theft, Geisen went to police and requested Dove El be investigated for theft. A police investigator contacted Dove El through her advertisement and they agreed to meet for sex. After she was taken into custody, Dove El made statements 'against her best interest” and confessed to the forgery, police said.
Dove El was arrested and faces charges of unauthorized use of a credit card, prostitution and third-degree theft. She has pleaded not guilty and her trial is scheduled for Oct. 20.
Prostitution is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years in jail.
