Assailant named in Sunday night stabbing

CEDAR RAPIDS - A man stabbed Sunday night knew his alleged assailant, officials said Monday.
Cedar Rapids police responded to a stabbing near the Green Gable Inn, 1227 J Ave. NE, at 6:55 p.m. Sunday. Officers found a 42-year-old victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso.
After investigating the incident, police located and arrested 45-year-old Shawn Bascom. He faces one count of willful injury.
Police said the stabbing was not a random act, but an incident between two people who were acquainted with each other.
