Texas man accused of sex abuse in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - A Texas man faces a sex abuse charge in Iowa City.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, on March 16, 29-year-old Jason J. Thomas performed a sex act on a woman while she was sleeping. The woman woke up in the middle of the act, police said.
The victim, who police said knows Thomas, said she did not consent to his actions.
Thomas allegedly told another person there wasn't any reason for him to believe that the victim wanted him to perform a sex act on her. He was arrested and faces one count of third-degree sex abuse, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
