IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are seeking the public's help in investigating a home invasion.
Officers responded to 431 South Dodge Street around 1 a.m. Thursday for a report of a home invasion. Victims inside the residence told police that three men kicked in the front door and entered. One of the men was holding a handgun which was pointed directly at the victims. He demanded cash or property, police said.
The three men fled in an unknown direction with cash and property from the residence, police said.
Police said a woman inside the residence was injured when the door was forced open by the intruders. She was evaluated by medical professionals, but did not seek additional treatment. There were no other injuries reported.
The man carrying the gun was described as a dark-skinned black man in his early 20s. He was approximately 6 feet tall, with a slender build and was wearing dark pants and a gray hooded sweat shirt with the hood pulled up tightly around his face.
The two other suspects were described as black men who were approximately 5'10” to six feet tall, also with slender builds. They were wearing dark clothing, police said. Officers do not know whether these two men were armed.
The robbery remains under investigation by the police department's Street Crimes Action Team. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department or CrimeStoppers.
