Coralville man accused of sexually abusing 4-year-old

CORALVILLE - A Coralville man is accused of inappropriately touching a 4-year-old girl.

According to criminal complaints, on Oct. 4, 71-year-old Raymond L. Wagehoft was caring for the victim in his home. Police said while the child was naked, Wagehoft made inappropriate, sexual contact with the child.

When Wagehoft's wife returned home, she found the child crying and the girl said Wagehoft had hurt her. Police said the victim gave the same story during a forensic interview at the Child Protection Center.

Wagehoft has been arrested and faces charges of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony; lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony; and child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted of all three counts, Wagehoft would face up to 37 years in prison.
