CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with attempted murder after repeatedly stabbing another man.
According to the Linn County attorney's Office, 22-year-old Broc A. Galle attacked another man and stabbed him 'repeatedly” with a knife. The attack is alleged to have occurred around 9:20 p.m. Monday at 1625 Park Towne Lane NE.
Authorities said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds and a collapsed lung as a result of the attack.
During a police interview, Galle allegedly told officers he had intended to kill the victim. The criminal complaint does not state what led to the attack.
Galle was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder and willful injury. He remains in custody at the Linn County Jail.
In September 2012, authorities in Dubuque County charged Galle with second-degree arson after he started a fire in a neighbor's home. Galle entered his then-neighbor's home through an unlocked patio door and found the house empty. He then started a fire in the garage and left the house. He allegedly told investigators he started the fire because he didn't like his neighbor.
According to court records, Galle entered a plea agreement that saw him plead guilty to second-degree arson in exchange for a deferred prison term. He was ordered to complete 177 hours of community service and was placed on probation for five years.
Attempted murder is a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
