Nov. 2, 2015 12:32 pm
IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man faces burglary and assault charges after assaulting two people at a home there Sunday.
Iowa City police responded to a home in the 2000 block of Davis Street at 6:32 a.m. Sunday for a report of a fight in progress. Responding officers encountered 33-year-old Ricardo Prosper outside of the residence.
Police said Prosper had been inside the home and punched a woman in the face, prompting her to throw him out of the residence and lock the door. Prosper then kicked open the door and assaulted a man inside.
Prosper does not live at the residence and had been ordered to leave several times, police said. He was arrested and faces charges of first-degree, a Class B felony; assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor; and domestic assault, a simple misdemeanor. If convicted of all three charges, Prosper could spend more than 26 years in prison.
