Cedar Rapids police receive donation for K-9 vest

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids K-9 officer will get a ballistic vest thanks to a donation from the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said Friday the Cedar Rapids Police Department received a check for $2,500 from the Mayflower Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The funds will be used to purchase a ballistic vest for K-9 officer Odin.
Odin is a two-year-old Belgian Malinois assigned to officer Chris Carton. Odin is a dual-purpose K-9 trained in narcotics detection and handler protection.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is an organization for women who have traced their ancestors to a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

Karen Wilson, chapter regent president of the Mayflower Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and members of the organization presented a check for $2,500 to the Cedar Rapids Police Department so that a ballistic vest can be purchased for a K-9 officer named Odin.
