A woman faces a first-degree murder charge following a shooting at an Iowa County rest area.
According to the Iowa County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a report around 2:37 a.m. Wednesday of a shooting at the westbound rest area on Interstate 80 near Victor. Responding deputies found a man dead from gunshot wounds inside his semitrailer, according to a news release.
Mariana T. Lesnic, 43, was taken into custody. Authorities do not yet know where Lesnic is from, the news release states. An Iowa County criminal complaint also lists 'none' for her address.
Lesnic is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
Authorities have not released the name of the man shot and killed.
The homicide remains under investigation by the Iowa County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The rest stop was closed for several hours Wednesday as authorities investigated the shooting. It has since reopened.
First-degree murder is a felony punishable by an automatic life sentence.
