Two injured in crash south of Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - Two people were injured in a crash near Mount Vernon Monday morning, authorities said.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to 681 Highway 1 at 10:37 a.m. for a three-vehicle crash. There, authorities discovered a truck driven by Eric Larsen, 66, of Lisbon was going south when it rear-ended a car driven by Philip Morrow, 59, of Cedar Rapids. Authorities said Morrow's car was pushed into oncoming traffic and collided with a vehicle driven by Chloe Whitmore, 16, of Solon.
Morrow and Whitmore were taken to the hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. The crash remains under investigation.
