MARION - A Cedar Rapids man was found to be cooking methamphetamine in his car following a traffic stop, police say.
According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, on April 13, officers with the Marion Police Department pulled over Matthew Holub, 32, for a traffic violation in the 3000 block of Highway 100. Police said before the stop, Holub tossed a bottle out of his car. That bottle was recovered and found to contain ingredients used to make methamphetamine, according to authorities.
Police searched Holub's car and found other methamphetamine making items. Holub admitted to officers he was making methamphetamine, authorities said. He was also driving with a barred license.
Holub was arrested and is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, possession of a methamphetamine precursor and driving while barred.
Authorities said Holub was given deferred judgment for manufacturing methamphetamine in 2004 and that deferred judgment was revoked in 2007. He was convicted of possession of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver in separate 2005 cases.
