Body of missing Iowa City woman found in Iowa River

HILLS - The body of a missing Iowa City woman was found in the Iowa River near Hills last week.

According to a news release from the Iowa City Police Department, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office found the body of a white woman in the river near Hills on Friday during their efforts to find Katherine J. Brooker. The Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office identified the body as Brooker.

The police department said the investigation into Brooker's disappearance and death still is open. Iowa City Police Sgt. Scott Gaarde said at this time, there is no indication of foul play.

Brooker, 37, was last seen on March 10 at Mercy Iowa City. Earlier this month, police said the sheriff's office and Iowa City Fire Department would be searching along the banks of the Iowa River after receiving a tip about a possible sighting along the river.
