CORALVILLE - Two Coralville police officers are to be promoted next week.
Coralville Police Chief Shane Kron announced Monday that Sgt. William Clarahan would be promoted to lieutenant on April 3. During his 22 years with the department, Clarahan has served as a field training officer, Emergency Response Team member and Drug Task Force officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 2007 and supervised the p.m. shift before his promotion.
As lieutenant, Clarahan is to oversee the department's patrol division.
Also on April 3, Officer Jereme Sutton is to be promoted to sergeant. Sutton has been with the department since 1999 after serving in Ottumwa and Black Hawk County. Sutton is a certified firearms instructor and is the Emergency Response Team leader.
In his new role, Sutton is to supervise the department's p.m. shift.
The two promotions were necessary after Kron's promotion from lieutenant to chief.
