Cedar Rapids firefighters respond to apartment fire on 66th Avenue SW

CEDAR RAPIDS — Firefighters responded to an apartment fire Wednesday morning.
According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, crews were called to 220 66th Ave. SW at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a fire in a bedroom. Firefighters entered the apartment and found a fire in a smoldering mattress and furniture. The fire was quickly extinguished.
The apartment unit sustained some smoke damage, the fire department said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
