Iowa City man faces prison time for burglary

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man is accused of smashing another man's car stereo.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, officers were called to the 1800 block of Muscatine Road around 12:43 a.m. Monday for a report of an assault. Police said the man involved in the alleged incident identified 36-year-old Matthew A. Williams as his assailant.
He told police Williams approached him as he was sitting in his car, broke out the car's window and began to attack him. Williams then grabbed the car stereo and threw it to the ground, police said.
Police said the man suffered bodily injury in the assault.
Williams was found at his home and admitted to going to get the car stereo. He told officers he kicked the victim's car and attacked him before taking the stereo and throwing it on the ground, police said. He was arrested and faces one count of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
