Davenport man arrested by Linn County deputies after chase continues into Jones County

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Davenport man is in custody after leading authorities on a chase that spanned two counties.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a call at 9:24 a.m. Thursday about a man driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on Highway 151 near Springville. Deputies located the vehicle at 9:32 a.m. and a traffic stop was initiated at highways 151 and 13.
Authorities said the driver, later identified as 30-year-old James D. Williams, refused to stop went west on Highway 151. The chase continued west into the Marion Square area and onto South 11th Street. Authorities said they lost sight of Williams at Grand Avenue and South 11th Street, but was later located at Highway 151 by Marion Airport Road.
Authorities again attempted to stop Williams, but he continued at a high rate of speed. The case continued north on Highway 151 into Jones County until Williams stopped north of Cascade.
Williams was taken into custody by Linn County deputies and officers with the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement. A passenger, Samantha E. Taylor, 32, of Oxford, was questioned and released.
Williams was taken to the Linn County Jail, where he faces charges of operating while intoxicated, eluding, driving while license under suspension, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and multiple traffic violations.
No injures or property damage resulted from the pursuit. Linn County was assisted by the Anamosa Police Department, Jones and Dubuque County sheriffs' offices and the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
