Man faces attempted murder charge in Iowa City shooting

IOWA CITY - A man faces an attempted murder charge following a shooting investigation Sunday morning.
Iowa City police were called to the area of Wayne Avenue and Baker Street around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired and a suspect fleeing the scene after a crash. Responding officers found the subject, 51-year-old Victor Hall, on foot in the area of Wayne Avenue and Dover Street. Hall's vehicle was located a short distance away.
Police searched the area and found a firearm in a nearby yard.
Hall was found to be carrying five individually wrapped plastic bags of marijuana. A breath test also showed his blood alcohol content to be .113 percent, according to criminal complaints.
While investigating the incident, officers learned another subject had been shot in the arm and fled after the shooting. He was treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, police said.
Hall was arrested and now faces charges of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, first-degree harassment, reckless use of a firearm, trafficking in stolen weapons, drunken driving, possession of a controlled substance and multiple traffic violations.
