CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a woman's home last month.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said police were called to a residence on Summer Circle around 9:05 a.m. Jan. 16 when a woman reported 31-year-old Ricky A. Perkins had broken into her home and assaulted her.
Police said Perkins had gone to the home and began knocking and yelling. Perkins then went to the side bedroom window, broke the window and entered the residence, police said. Police said Perkins then assaulted the woman.
Buelow said Perkins and the alleged victim know each other.
Perkins was arrested on a warrant and faces one count of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
