Memorial established for Iowa City cabdriver found dead

IOWA CITY - Yellow Cab of Iowa City has established a memorial fund for their driver, Ricky Lillie, who was found dead in his cab earlier this week.
On Friday, Yellow Cab manager Roger Bradley announced that the Rick Lillie Memorial Fund had been established at Hills Bank and Trust. The funds will go to Lillie's family to help with expenses, Bradley said in a release.
'We've had an enormous outpouring of support and generosity, not only from our customers, but from the general public, as well,” Bradley said in a statement. 'Even people who don't use taxicabs have called, wanting to know how they can help. It's been a bright shine of light on a most tragic event.”
Lillie, 46, who has driven for Yellow Cab since last year, was found dead in his cab around 3:42 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Ernest Street, near the Alexis Park Inn in Iowa City. His death is being treated as a homicide, but police have not released details about the circumstances of his death.
No arrests have been made, but police on Thursday released images of a person of interest in the case. Officials said Friday they were confident the images would generate tips in the case.
Bradley said the fund will exist as long as necessary and those who wish to can donate at any Hills Bank and Trust branch. Donations can be made anonymously.
Funeral services for Lillie are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel in New London. Visitation will begin at noon. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, according to his obituary.
