Kalona woman dies after Riverside fire

RIVERSIDE - A Kalona woman died after a fire in Riverside Monday night.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Washington County Communications Center received multiple reports of an apartment fire at 40 W. First St. in Riverside at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Fire departments from Riverside, Kalona, Ainsworth, Lone Tree and Hills responded to the fire.

Authorities said a Kalona woman, 52-year-old Tracy L. Williams, was taken from the scene to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Two other people were hospitalized, according to the sheriff's office. A firefighter suffered an injury during a fall and another patient suffered injuries unrelated to the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the sheriff's office said.
