Death of motorcyclist in Iowa City under investigation

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating the death of a motorcyclist.
According to a police department news release, officers were called to the area of Burlington and Gilbert streets for a report of a motorcycle hitting a utility pole. The driver of the motorcycle - whose identity has not been released - was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash prompted police to reroute traffic off Gilbert Street until 5:11 a.m. Monday.
The crash remains under investigation.
