IOWA CITY - A Coralville man is accused of breaking into a residence and assaulting a woman inside.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 4:50 a.m. Aug. 19, 18-year-old Saleh A. Nasr had been drinking in downtown Iowa City and took an Uber to a residence in the 200 block of Woodside Drive. Police said Nasr went to a residence and 'began violently pounding on the front door.”
When one of the residents partially opened the door and told Nasr to leave, he forced his way inside, police said. Nasr was told multiple times to leave, but refused. Police said Nasr then shoved the female victim onto a bed and wrapped both of his hands around her neck, causing injury.
Nasr admitted to police he was drunk, but refused breath testing. He was arrested and faces charges of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony; trespass causing injury, a serious misdemeanor; assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
