CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man faces a host of charges after police say he fled from them in a stolen truck.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said officers attempted to pull over a 2006 F150 around 5:53 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of Otis Road and 12th Avenue SE. Buelow said the truck had been reported stolen Monday evening from Welter Storage Equipment Co., 1945 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE.
Police said the driver, later identified as David A. Vice, 27, refused to stop for officers and a chase ensued that went through the southeast, southwest and northwest quadrants of the city. The chase ended when Vice crashed the truck in the 1900 block of E Avenue NW and attempted to flee on foot, Buelow said.
Vice faces charges of eluding, reckless driving, second-degree theft and numerous traffic charges.
Buelow said a passenger who fled the truck during the chase, Rudi Clark, 22, also was apprehended and faces one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
