IOWA CITY - An Iowa City woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving after police said she hit a motorcyclist on Thursday.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the area of Riverside Drive and Oak Crest Hill Road SE around 10:03 p.m. for a report of a car hitting a motorcyclist. When deputies arrived, the driver of the car - Christine M. Wilmoth, 49 - showed signs of intoxication and was 'frantic” from the crash, authorities said.
The motorcyclist refused treatment at the scene.
Authorities said Wilmoth failed one field test and refused other field tests. A preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol content to be .177 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent.
Wilmoth faces one count of drunken driving, a serious misdemeanor.
