Police: Iowa City man fractured his father’s skull in assault

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man fractured his father's skull in an unprovoked assault, police said.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, around 4:48 p.m. Monday, 30-year-old Flannery H. Kennedy Meier hit his father in the head with a weapon. Police said the assault occurred at Kennedy Meier's home at 1129 Hotz Ave. His father suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed in the attack, police said.
Kennedy Meier was arrested and faces one count of willful injury causing serious injury, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
