Driver killed in Interstate 80 crash near West Branch

WEST BRANCH - One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near West Branch Sunday evening.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the driver of the 2012 Dodge Journey - who is not identified in a crash report - was westbound on Interstate 80 near the 256 mile marker around 7:16 p.m. Sunday. Authorities said the vehicle entered the median and hit a bridge support. The driver was ejected and the vehicle caught fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The crash remains under investigation.
