CORALVILLE - A Cedar Rapids woman is accused of stabbing another person while returning home from a concert.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, around 11 p.m., Jody S. Kubik, 48, was traveling in a vehicle back to Cedar Rapids following a concert in Iowa City. Authorities said Kubik was 'highly intoxicated” and got into an argument with the victim about 'being touched by a third party.”
During the argument, Kubik pulled a knife and stabbed the victim twice in the arm, the sheriff's office said.
Authorities said Kubik 'alternatively made pleas of innocence and incriminating statements.” She said she had a knife, but did not know if it had been in her hand, according to police. Kubik threw the knife from the vehicle, authorities added.
While at the Johnson County Jail, Kubik admitted to jail staff she had committed the stabbing, but said it was in self-defense, authorities said. Kubik faces charges of willful injury, a felony; and domestic assault with a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
