IOWA CITY - A Cedar Rapids man is accused of stealing a man's laptop computer in Iowa City last month.
The man, who was selling the laptop, agreed to meet with Tyrelle D. Harris, 25, in an Iowa City parking lot Aug. 24, according to an Iowa City police criminal complaint.
Police said Harris took the laptop and power cord from the man without paying and threw him to the ground.
When the man tried to call 911, Harris grabbed his cellphone, threw it against the ground and drove away, police said.
Later, Harris was seen on Interstate 380 throwing the laptop and other items from the vehicle. Police recovered the laptop.
Harris was arrested Thursday in North Liberty after police were called to an apartment at 190 Sugar Creek Lane at 8:05 p.m. Police said they found Harris on his knees with his hands in the air, according to criminal complaints.
Police said Harris admitted to going to the North Liberty apartment and assaulting a man 'over personal issues.” Harris choked and hit him in the face, police said.
In the two incidents, Harris faces charges of second-degree robbery, a Class C felony; and assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor.
