Elkader man arrested in connection with Clayton County fatal crash

CLAYTON COUNTY - An Elkader man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in February.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 20-year-old Kory A. Doeppke, faces two counts of homicide by vehicle - operating under the influence, for a Feb. 16 crash that killed Brady Edwards and Izaiah Drinkwater, who were both 16. Authorities said that at the time of the fatal crash near Edgewood, Doeppke's blood alcohol content was over the legal limit of .08 percent.
Doeppke was arrested Monday and is in custody at the Clayton County Law Enforcement Center on a $20,000, the state patrol said.
Homicide by vehicle - operating under the influence is a Class B felony punishable by 25 years in prison.
