Iowa City police investigating report of armed robbery

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating an armed robbery they say occurred Tuesday night.
According to a police media relese, officers were called to 2601 Highway 6 East at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an armed robbery. Responding officers spoke with the alleged victim who reported he was walking in a nearby open field and approached by two men. The victim told police he was tackled and one of the suspects pulled a knife on him. He was hit over the head with a bottle by the other suspect, police said.
The suspects took several items from the victim before fleeing the area.
Anyone with information on these suspects or this incident are asked to call Iowa City Police Department at 356-5276. Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about the alleged robbery. Anyone with information can provide it anonymously at 358-TIPS.
