Isaiah Moss transferring out of Iowa

Iowa men's basketball player Isaiah Moss has entered the NCAA's transfer portal.

Moss' father told Jeff Goodman of sports site Stadium that his son, a fourth-year junior at Iowa, will be eligible immediately at his next school, meaning he would be a UI graduate.

'Isaiah has expressed his interest in transferring,” Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said via a UI news release. 'Isaiah has been a valuable member of our program the last four years. We appreciate Isaiah's contributions and wish him good luck in his future endeavors.”

'I would like to thank my teammates and coaches, and all the fans for being there for me,” Moss said via that same news release. 'The last four years have been a great experience.”

Moss started 96 games for the Hawkeyes over his three seasons, with a career scoring average of 8.9 points. He averaged 9.2 last season, fifth on the team. He was fourth in the Big Ten in 3-point percentage with 48 of 114 for .421.

Iowa recruited Moss out of Chicago, and he redshirted his first season at Iowa. A 6-foot-5 guard he made 126 3-pointers in his career.

Two of his best games were at Minnesota. Last year he scored 19 points in the game's final 1:36 en route to his career-high 32 points. His season-high in the 2018-19 season was 23 points, also at Minnesota.

Moss is the third player to announce he's leaving the Hawkeyes early. Fellow junior Tyler Cook is an NBA early-entry candidate who has said he intends to turn pro this year. Another junior, reserve guard, Maishe Dailey, is transferring to Akron. Moss and Cook were early-entries last year before returning to Iowa. Hawkeye freshman guard Joe Wieskamp is an early-entry but seems unlikely to turn pro this year.

Guard D.J. Harvey and forwards Sam Hauser and Joey Hauser are transfers considering Iowa among their destinations. Harvey just finished his sophomore season at Notre Dame, averaging 10.7 points. Sam Hauser is a 6-8 swingman who averaged 14.9 points and 7.2 rebounds at Marquette last season. His brother, Joey, is 6-9. He averaged 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds for Marquette.

Harvey is also considering Vanderbilt. The Hausers are looking at Wisconsin, Michigan State and Virginia.
