Iowa City man’s burglary attempt foiled by Best Buy staff

CORALVILLE - Police said Best Buy staff foiled an Iowa City man's burglary attempt.
According to Coralville police criminal complaints, around 6:31 p.m. Wednesday, Best Buy staff watched 21-year-old Corey R. Reynolds enter the store. Police said Reynolds was wearing black shoes, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and black gloves.
Best Buy staff watched Reynolds on camera as he moved around several vacuum boxes, looked at some different items and then moved around more vacuum boxes. Authorities said Reynolds then laid down behind the vacuum boxes in an attempt to hide.
Police arrived on the scene and Reynolds was found behind the boxes. Reynolds was captured around 7:10 p.m. and the store closes at 9 p.m., police said.
Reynolds was carrying a bag containing a hammer and scissors. He was also carrying a flashlight, police said.
Reynolds was arrested and faces charges of attempted burglary - second degree, a Class D felony; and possession of burglar's tools, an aggravated misdemeanor.
