Jan. 24, 2018 4:29 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - More than 100 deer were harvested during Cedar Rapids' Urban Deer Management program, which concluded earlier this month.
Hunters harvested 111 deer during the urban bow hunting season from Sept. 16 to Jan. 10, according to a news release from the city of Cedar Rapids. That is a decrease of 35 deer from the year before. In total, 78 hunters qualified for the bow hunt and 25 successfully killed at least one deer, according to the release.
Hunters harvested 101 does, three button bucks and seven antlered bucks. Seventeen of the deer were donated to help feed the hungry in Cedar Rapids and Linn County, according to the release.
