Cedar Rapids chase under investigation

Jan. 25, 2018 8:42 am
CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids police are investigating a chase that occurred Saturday morning.
Public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said that at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, officers saw a green Chrysler Sebring going 60-70 mph on 16th Avenue SW toward Edgewood Road SW. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, which turned onto Burdette Lane NW and continued north at a high rate of speed.
Buelow said the driver of the Sebring came upon a T-intersection, slid as it made a left turn onto Sharon Lane and hit a parked car. The driver then drove through several yards and continued south on Crestridge Drive NW.
The chase ended in the 200 block of Rockhurst Drive SW when the male driver fled the vehicle on foot. Buelow said a 16-year-old female passenger was detained.
The chase remains under investigation.
