Forest View rezoning to be considered by Iowa City Council on Tuesday

May. 5, 2019 6:15 pm
IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Council is scheduled to vote on a rezoning request to pave the way for a mixed use development near the entrance of the city on Dubuque Street.
On Tuesday, the council will consider whether to rezone 70 acres for the proposed Forest View development. The land is south of Interstate 80 and just west of North Dubuque Street.
If approved, the project would include commercial property predominantly along North Dubuque Street and a mix of single-family and multifamily residential properties.
The Forest View Mobile Home Park is on a portion of the land up for rezoning. If the rezoning is approved, the mobile home park would be relocated to a single-family manufactured housing neighborhood on the same land west of their current location.
The project also would create secondary access to the Peninsula Neighborhood in the event of major flooding.
The city's Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended approval of the rezoning request.
