Transient arrested after Iowa City police say he threw flower pot at officers

IOWA CITY - A homeless man is accused of throwing a flower pot at two Iowa City Police Officers.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, two officers were on patrol outside the Iowa City Public Library around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday. Both officers were in full uniform.
Police said 39-year-old James I. Dean threw a flower pot at the officers, which missed them.
Dean smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated, police said. He declined a breath test.
Dean was arrested and faces charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication, both simple misdemeanors punishable by up to 30 days in jail.
