Hiawatha man faces drug charges after foot chase

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Hiawatha man faces drug charges following a foot chase with police.
Cedar Rapids police were called to a disturbance at 2106 Westdale Dr. SW at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a disturbance involving weapons. According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, when officers arrived on the scene, 23-year-old Vincent Ndikumana fled on foot from officers.
Police said Ndikumana tossed his backpack during the chase, which officers recovered. Inside, police found 13 individually-wrapped baggies of marijuana, packaging materials, a set of scales and $115 in cash. Ndikumana was also found to have 14 Amoxicillin capsules on him, police said. He did not have a prescription for the pills.
Ndikumana was arrested and faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a prescription drug and interference with official acts.
