CEDAR RAPIDS - A high-speed chase that ended with a car crashing into a house has resulted in charges for a Cedar Rapids man.
Cedar Rapids police attempted to pull over 24-year-old Shawn P. Evans around 4 a.m. Sunday. Rather than stop for officers, police said Evans led them on a high-speed chase.
According to a Linn County Attorney's Office criminal complaint, Evans reached speeds of 90 mph in several residential areas. Evans eventually lost control and crashed into a house, authorities said. Police said Evans was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Evans was initially hospitalized after the chase and crash. However, he has now been charged with attempting to elude, second-offense drunken driving and driving with a suspended license.
According to court records, Evans received a deferred judgment for drunken driving in April 2014 in Lee County.
