Police said they found heroin on a Coralville woman after a traffic stop Wednesday night.
According to a North Liberty Police Department criminal complaint, an officer made a traffic stop at Berkshire Lane and Yorkshire Street at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday. Police said when they made the stop, the officer noticed the front seat passenger — 19-year-old Hailee M. Weaver — was shaking. The driver of the vehicle allegedly told the officer she was worried that Weaver was on drugs and gave the officer permission to look in the vehicle.
Police said a search turned up a baggie containing a powdery substance and a used needle inside Weaver's purse that was found on the floor board at her feet. Police also found heroin inside a cigarette pack in Weaver's purse.
Weaver told the officer she used the needle to shoot up heroin, police said. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
