Fire destroys Cedar Rapids garage, threatens nearby building

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded to an overnight garage fire.
Firefighters were called to 516 10th Ave. SE shortly before 1 a.m. for a garage fire. Responding crews encountered a garage with 'heavy fire conditions” on two sides, according to the fire department. Firefighters attacked the fire and used a third hose line to protect a nearby building.
The garage, owned by Prometheus, Inc., is a total loss. There were no occupants at the time of the fire and no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
