CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man is accused of drunkenly ramming his vehicle into another man's vehicle 20 times.
According to the Linn County attorney's Office, on Jan. 1, 40-year-old Richard A. McElree went to the home of Mitzi McElree. The criminal complaint states that while at the woman's home, a 'confrontation ensued” and Richard McElree was forced to leave the residence.
When McElree left, he used his vehicle to ram a vehicle owned by Jeremy Knight 'approximately 20 times,” according to the criminal complaint. McElree's actions caused more than $10,000 in damage to Knight's vehicle.
McElree was arrested at the scene and found to have a blood alcohol content of .216 percent, more than 2.5 times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in Iowa. McElree has a prior drunken driving conviction.
McElree now faces charges of first-degree criminal mischief, second-offense drunken driving and criminal trespass.
