Report: Group jumped, robbed in downtown Iowa City

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating a report of a strong arm robbery.
According to a news release, officers responded to the area of College and Van Buren streets at 2:24 a.m. Sunday for a report of a strong arm robbery that had just occurred. The victims told police they had been walking on College Street when they were jumped by a group of men. The men took their wallets, as well, police said.
Police said the suspects got back into the vehicle they had jumped out of and fled the area. The victims suffered minor injuries, but declined medical treatment, police said.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of these suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS.
