IOWA CITY - A Coralville man faces prison time for an assault alleged to have occurred earlier this month.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, the incident began with a fight between Omarrio D. Moore, 40, of Coralville, and a woman around 2:20 a.m. Feb. 19 at Kum & Go, 323 E. Burlington St. Police said the woman got into the front passenger seat of a minivan and left Kum & Go, but Moore followed.
Moore allegedly forced the driver of the minivan to pull over on Kirkwood Avenue. Police said Moore got out of his vehicle and began to hit the passenger window of the minivan with his fist. When he was unable to open the passenger side door, Moore went to the driver's side door, opened it and assaulted the woman, who police say was injured in the attack.
Moore has been arrested and faces charges of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony; domestic assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor; and second-offense domestic assault, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted, Moore could spend up to 29 years in prison.
