Apr. 14, 2017 5:23 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - The Easter Bunny and McGruff the crime dog plan to visit pediatric patients at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital this weekend with help from the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
The Easter Bunny, McGruff and Col. John Stuelke are scheduled to arrive at the pediatric unit at St. Luke's Hospital at 1 p.m. Sunday. Patients will get to visit with the characters and receive their own stuffed bunny.
'It's our hope that we can bring some additional happiness to boys and girls who might otherwise be experiencing a not-so-pleasant time away from family and friends this Easter holiday,” Sheriff Brian Gardner said in a news release.
The sheriff's office is partnering with The Easter Bunny Foundation, an Orlando-based nonprofit organization, that strives to provide personal visits to children in hospitals across the country.
