North Liberty man who threatened woman with gun faces additional charge

NORTH LIBERTY - A North Liberty man accused of pointing a gun at a woman's head and threatening to kill her faces an additional firearms charge.
North Liberty police responded to the 100 block of War Admiral Lane around 4 a.m. on Oct. 16 after Juan Martinez-Lopez, 31, allegedly threatened the woman with the gun. Martinez-Lopez also grabbed the woman by the hair and threw her to the ground, police said.
Martinez-Lopez was arrested on one count of domestic assault while displaying a weapon. According to criminal complaints made available Wednesday, police conducted a search of Martinez-Lopez' home and discovered a loaded .22 caliber magazine.
Police said Martinez-Lopez is a felon and is barred from possessing a firearm. He now faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, a felony.
